A Baileyville man was rescued Tuesday after his ATV broke through the ice on Grand Falls flowage.
According to a Maine Warden Service press release, ice fishermen saw Mike Murphy, 56, break through the ice across from the Squirrel Point boat landing at about 3 p.m. Murphy managed to get to Wall Island, where he waited for help.

Game wardens Brad Richard, Joey Gardner and Baileyville Fire Chief John McPhee deployed the Maine Warden Service airboat and used it to cross unsafe ice and reach Murphy. His Can-AM ATV was retrieved from open water and towed to shore.
Wardens say ice conditions in that area are often poor.
The Baileyville police and fire departments, the Passamaquoddy Warden Service, Downeast EMS, Maine State Police and the Maine Warden Service responded to the incident.
