School officials and police say they thwarted a violent threat against students and staff at Bonny Eagle Middle School.

Two students from the school are charged with terrorizing after allegedly making threats.

Buxton police say the students, a boy and a girl, each 14 years old, were detained by officers and moved to an isolated area of the school this morning.

Police wouldn’t talk about any possible motive for the threat, but say the students don’t appear to have access to weapons.

School officials credited other students with reporting the incident, which allowed them to bring in police.

“It’s a little bit different speaking with your principal or your teacher or when you are talking to a man dressed like me,” Buxton police Chief Troy Cline said. “By the end of the conversation we had with both of them today, I think they are very clear on how serious the situation was.”

Investigators say the students could face additional charges and they’ve been released to the custody of their parents.

The school was never locked down.
