Another police officer shot. In what is becoming an ongoing headline, we read and see news reports of this horrific occurrence daily. Politicians say we must do something about these gun crimes. Gun crimes? If people follow up on these stories, career criminals with long rap sheets, out on bond, early release and reduced sentences are often to blame.

The soft on crime approach is not working. We don’t enforce the laws. As a matter of fact, we seem to encourage law breaking. Mobs looting drug stores occur daily with the security guards watching, apparently not wanting to get involved as to risk lawsuits. District attorneys taking a hands-off approach to enforcing the laws. Politicians seem to think we do not have enough criminals. We ignore existing laws and import them through our southern border.

Law enforcement is not the blame, we cut their budgets, they suffer from low morale and low recruitment. Who wants an unsupported, dangerous and thankless job?
