FORT KENT, Maine — The Fort Kent Community High School Warrior girls started off the postseason with a decisive 72-41 prelim win over Woodland in Fort Kent on Tuesday.
The eighth-seeded Warriors advance to Class C North tournament action at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, where they will play the top-seeded Dexter Tigers Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
“The girls played very well right from the tip-off. Strong defense and controlled offense led to a well earned win today,” Fort Kent assistant coach Jason Nadeau said of his team. “Dexter’s a tough opponent; they’re the No. 1 seed for a reason. We hope to give them a good challenge next Tuesday.”
Lily Oliver took charge of the Warrior offense with a game-high 32 points. Mia Voisine followed with 13 and Lily Werntgen scored 11, including three from beyond the 3-point arc.
Brooke Smith led the Dragons with 14 points. Kaylin Hamilton contributed 10 points and Karleigh Smith added another nine.
