Early summer can be prime time for white-tailed deer sightings.
That has been the case for camera-wise outdoorsmen like Allie Ladd, who continues to pile up the video footage of wildlife near his home in Byron.
Today’s video is a compilation of three clips that feature deer — and one of their forest friends.
First, there’s an interaction between a frisky doe and a younger buck. It’s unclear whether the doe is just playing with the buck or actually wants to keep its distance.
It’s fairly certain that if the two are sharing the same patch of woods come October or November, they might have more reasons to play the chase game during the rut or mating season.
In the second clip, a doe and a cow moose seem content sharing the same patch of ground on which to browse. But not for long.
The moose seems to assert its dominance, making a subtle movement in the direction of the deer, which bounds away rather than anger its much larger neighbor.
Finally, a doe walks quietly along a trail with its newborn fawn in tow. The doe is keeping a close watch on her surroundings, realizing there could be potential danger nearby in the form of a coyote or even a hungry black bear that doesn’t yet have access to its full complement of natural foods.
Thanks to Allie Ladd for another series of beautiful trail camera videos!
