A man has been arrested in last week’s South Portland bank robbery.

Jason Arsenault, 41, was charged with robbery, theft, terrorizing and unauthorized use of property, according to Shara Dee, a spokesperson for the city of South Portland.

Arsenault allegedly went to the Key Bank on Gorham Road about 11:49 a.m. on Jan. 26 where he demanded money and claimed to have an explosive device.

No weapons or explosives were displayed during the robbery.

He fled with about $30,000 in a black Chevrolet Suburban, which police located about a mile away in a parking lot off John Roberts Road

Police arrested Arsenault without incident about 10 p.m. Thursday in a parked vehicle on Mabel Street in Portland.

Police recovered nearly all of the stolen money.

Arsenault was being held on $25,000 bail at the Cumberland County Jail. He was scheduled to be arraigned later on Friday.
