An Orrington man was allegedly intoxicated when he crashed into a garage on Thursday morning.

Paul Meservey, 20, was charged with operating under the influence and operating beyond license restrictions, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

Meservey was driving near the intersection of River Road and Cleveland Avenue in Orrington about 2:12 a.m. when he left the road, drove through a garage and struck another vehicle, the sheriff’s office said Friday morning. CBS affiliate WABI reported that Meservey also went through a fence before crashing into the garage.

The crash caused “significant structural damage” to the garage, as well as “functional damage” to the vehicle inside, according to the sheriff’s office.

Meservey suffered minor injuries in the crash. No one else was injured.
