Belfast is expanding its City Hall into the old courthouse next door. The move is expected to increase the size of the community’s meeting space to around 240, up from an 80-person capacity.

The federal government turned down Maine’s request for a $456 million grant that would cover most of the cost of building an offshore wind port on Sears Island, officials confirmed Tuesday. It is a notable setback to a project eyed for completion in 2029.
