Utility workers made steady progress restoring power on Thursday after an overnight storm, but it is likely to take several days before power is fully restored across Maine.

The storm delivered high winds gusting up to 60 mph, along with heavy rain. Many towns saw more than 2 inches of rain fall before sunrise Thursday, and wind speeds reached as high as 67 mph.

As of 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Versant Power reported 10,095 customers without power, down from close to 60,000 at noon. Central Maine Power had 1,424 outages across its service area, down from more than 10,000 at noon.

Versant Power warned that it will take several days before power is fully restored.
