The Bangor City Council voted to censure Councilor Joe Leonard for his accusations against former Finance Director David Little. While Leonard expressed regret over his statements, he remained firm in his claims.

The Democrats trying to replace Maine Gov. Janet Mills in 2026 stray away from her views on tribal rights. Maine’s tribes have repeatedly tried to benefit from federal laws not currently applied to them under the landmark 1980 Maine Indian Claims Settlement Act. 

Orrington says the Eagle Point Energy Center owes the town nearly $186,000 in taxes. This is the second lien filed this year against the trash incinerator on the shores of the Penobscot River. 

Maine farmers are banding together to make up for federal funding cuts. Farm to Neighbor represents 75 farms and 125 farmers that are trying to make up the difference from lost federal funding. 

Local organizers called for policy change at an overdose awareness rally in Bangor Monday night. Multiple people called on the city to support more rehabilitation programs, overdose prevention services and syringe service programs.
