Tour six different home gardens in full bloom, over two Saturdays June 13 and June 20. Gardens are located in Bangor, Eddington and Winterport. Each garden is unique and filled with dozens of different varieties of Peonies and other landscape, plants and ornamental features.
Begin your tour at either of the largest two gardens: 1348 Ohio St. in Bangor or 9 Clark Road in Winterport. Once there, you will receive a map and garden bio for all the gardens. The Ohio Street garden is legendary and winds through dozens of curvilinear beds and features many rare peony varieties. In addition to dozens of peony varieties, the Winterport location includes an extensive woodland “art walk” that includes a flying pig, purple cow, snails on a cross walk and dozens of creative surprises throughout the woods.
The Peony Society awards scholarships, donates peonies to public gardens and spaces and provides ongoing education to members and friends. To support the society, there is a $5 per person donation asked of each tour guest. That donation covers all of the gardens on the tour. The donation includes a chance to win a peony plant at the end of each Saturday.
The tour is rain or shine! For more information about the Peony Society, check out the website www.peonysocietyofmaine.net.
