ELLSWORTH — Recent support from Franklin Savings Bank is helping move the Ellsworth Rotary Club’s DeMeyer Field Project forward, as local businesses, community members and organizations continue to come together around the shared goal of creating a safer, more welcoming space for children and families.
Franklin Savings Bank contributed $20,000 to support the community-led redevelopment effort, which is focused on enhancing the multi-use field complex for youth sports, family recreation and community programming.
DeMeyer Field serves Ellsworth and surrounding communities, providing a space for local children, athletes, families and volunteers to gather throughout the year. The project includes improvements designed to enhance safety, accessibility, and the overall experience for families, including a new playground area, fencing, field upgrades, pathway improvements and additional parking.
For Franklin Savings Bank, the project reflects the kind of community investment the Bank is proud to support.
“This project is a true grassroots effort, with local people, businesses, and volunteers stepping forward because they care about youth sports and the families in this community,” Crystal Richards, vice president, commercial lender at Franklin Savings Bank, said. “DeMeyer Field is used by families from Ellsworth and the surrounding communities we serve, and it has been incredible to see the level of support and collaboration that has helped bring this project to life. We are proud to be part of an initiative that will have such a meaningful and lasting impact.”
The DeMeyer Field Project has been led by the Rotary Club of Ellsworth, with support from community volunteers, local businesses and donors who have worked together to help redevelop the space. For those closely involved, the project is a reflection of what can happen when a community comes together around a shared goal.
“Words cannot fully express our appreciation for Franklin Savings Bank’s support of this important community project,” Peter Farragher of the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce said. “We truly value your partnership and look forward to sharing this exciting news with the community.”
Debra Ehrlenbach, Ellsworth’s Citizen of the Year and a leader in the DeMeyer Field fundraising effort, echoed Farragher’s appreciation.
“I completely echo Peter’s message to Franklin Savings Bank,” Ehrlenbach said. “The generosity you have shown speaks volumes about your dedication to this community and the support of this important community project.”
Franklin Savings Bank has served the Ellsworth community for nearly a decade and continues to deepen its commitment to Hancock County through local relationships, business partnerships and support for community initiatives.
“Spaces like DeMeyer Field matter because they give children and families a place to play, connect, and build lasting memories,” Franklin Savings Bank President and CEO Tim Thompson said. “This project is about investing in the people, families and connections that make our communities special.”
