The Eddington school board member wanted after an infant overdosed on drugs has been arrested after days on the run.
Brittany Wood, 36, faces charges of domestic violence aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
Those charges stem from the May 31 overdose at a Clewleyville Road home that sent the infant into cardiac arrest. The infant was revived after CPR and two doses of naloxone, an opioid-overdose-reversing antidote.
The sheriff’s office on Friday asked for the public’s help in locating Wood, who sits on the Regional School Unit 63 school board. RSU 63 comprises Clifton, Eddington and Holden.
After a dayslong investigation, aided by numerous tips about her possible locations, police determined that Wood was in Brewer and began surveilling her.
She was arrested without incident about 7 p.m. Tuesday as she left a Brewer home as a passenger in a white pickup truck, the sheriff’s office said just before midnight Tuesday.
Wood was taken to the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor, where she remained Wednesday morning.
The sheriff’s office is actively investigating those who may have assisted Wood during her time on the run.
Wood hasn’t resigned from her position on the RSU 63 school board. The district is looking into ways to replace her. Wood missed the board’s last two meetings, and if she misses the August meeting, Wood may be ousted for violating the board’s absenteeism policy.
