A fire that damaged Dennysville Edmunds Congregational Church on Monday morning was intentionally set, the state fire marshal’s office says.
The fire at the 17 King St. building was reported shortly before 8 a.m. It started near the rear of the church, and firefighters were able to limit the damage primarily to the exterior of the building, the fire marshal’s office said.
Dennysville is in Washington County, about 15 miles west of Eastport.
No one was at the church at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
On Tuesday, the state fire marshal’s office ruled it arson and asked that anyone with relevant information call the fire marshal’s office at 207-973-3700.
