A Parsonsfield man was burned in a flash fire Tuesday afternoon while cutting metal barrels.
Jacob Mudgett, 32, was using a cutting torch to cut 50-gallon metal barrels at a Stacey Lane home in Parsonsfield about 1:51 p.m. when gas vapors inside one barrel ignited in a flash fire, according to Maj. Aaron Turcotte, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Mudgett, who suffered first- and second-degree burns to his abdomen, chest, arms and neck, went to Sacopee Valley Health Center in Porter before being transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
He is expected to make a full recovery.
The fire caused minimal damage to the garage and barn where the fire broke out.
