TOPSHAM – Maine School Administrative District 75 has named Dr. Joshua Ottow as the new principal of Williams-Cone School, bringing the experienced Maine educator and former district administrator back to the SAD 75 community.
The decision follows an extensive hiring process with multiple rounds of interviews. Ottow has nearly two decades of experience in Maine education, including several years in leadership roles. He previously served as assistant principal at Mt. Ararat High School before becoming assistant principal at Yarmouth High School, where he worked from 2011-15. He then returned to SAD 75 as principal of Mt. Ararat Middle School, serving in the role from 2015-20.
Throughout his career, Ottow has focused on supporting teachers, engaging families and creating school environments that help students succeed.
“Our families care deeply about their children and education, and I am honored to lead the Williams-Cone School,” Ottow said. “I am looking forward to connecting with my staff and families and seeing what the next year brings.”
Ottow earned a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Maine in 2016. He also holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Southern Maine and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin.
“Josh’s enthusiasm, passion, and eagerness to rejoin our community were incredibly evident throughout the interview process,” Assistant Superintendent Amanda Hersey said. “That energy is fully matched by our own excitement to have him leading Williams-Cone with his student-centered vision and deep commitment to our families.”
As the new school year approaches, Ottow will begin connecting with Williams-Cone students, staff and families and preparing for the year ahead. Williams-Cone School serves Topsham students east of Route 201, from pre-K through grade 5.
Maine School Administrative District 75 serves four towns located in the Midcoast Maine area: Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Harpswell and Topsham. These towns cover approximately 40 square miles. The area is comprised of heterogeneous populations of academic, business, professional, working, farming and fishing families with an approximate population of 20,000 residents. There are five elementary schools, one middle school and one high school in our district. On the main campus in Topsham, there is also a Special Services Center, an Adult Education Center and the MSAD 75 District Office.
