A Canadian man died Monday morning when a hydroplaning logging truck trailer swung into his path.

Joshua Nugent, 37, of Detroit, Maine, was driving a logging truck with an empty trailer north on Route 201, also known as Canada Road, in Moscow during heavy rain about 10:10 a.m. when the trailer hydroplaned at a corner and swung into the path of a red SUV driven by 67-year-old Serge Poulin of Quebec, according to the Waterville Morning Sentinel.

Poulin died at the scene, the Sentinel reported.

Nugent wasn’t injured in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.

Moscow is northwest of Skowhegan.
