Sen. Susan Collins can do all the happy, smiling bus tours she wants. But we will not forget.
We will not forget that Collins stood by as the president demolished the East Wing of our White House. She did little when the administration killed over 225 men in small boats in the Caribbean with no due process, and started an unlawful war in Iran.
We will not forget that Collins voted for: Brett Kavanaugh, who helped overturn Roe v. Wade; 21 of 22 of President Donald Trump’s initial cabinet nominees (many who were unqualified and have damaged our country); and to advance a trillion-dollar tax cut for billionaires.
We will not forget she has not fully fulfilled her duties as chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee — letting the president cut budgets, allocate funds as he sees fit, and cancel grants and research projects affecting citizens of Maine and others around the country and the world.
We will not forget the billions of dollars that Collins voted on for ICE while they have killed our citizens and detained and deported our immigrant neighbors who are contributing members of our communities.
Sure, Susan Collins can travel across the state with her smiling supporters, but the rest of us will not forget.
