GEORGE E. HOXIE JR. WEST ENFIELD – George E. Hoxie Jr., 74, son of the late George and Edna (Day) Hoxie, passed away Sept. 7, 2008, at a Howland health care facility. He was born Nov. 11, 1933, in Dover-Foxcroft. George loved going to Mattanawcook Academy football games, golfing, bowling, fishing, hunting, and going to Rick’s camp and having a good time with the guys. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. George is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hoxie of West Enfield; his stepchildren, Stephen and Darlene Beesley of West Enfield, Nancy and Dwight Towle of Lincoln, Wanda Conway and Kevin Knox of Peru, Wayne Beesley of West Enfield, and Tina and Jerry Tracy of West Enfield; also 15 stepgrandchildren and 17 great-stepgrandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mildred Hoxie of St. Louis; several nieces and nephews; and very good friends, Carl Brown and Berry Sturgeon. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Arther, Raymond and Franklin Hoxie; a sister, Genevieve (Hoxie) Sargent; great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Katherine Smart; and a very close friend, Rick Weatherbee. The family thanks the staff at Cumming’s Health Care for the great care that George received during the time that he was there. Private burial will be at Dover Cemetery.
