PLEASANT POINT – Abigail Dawn Francis, 18 months, died peacefully on Feb. 16, 2004, at Calais Regional Hospital, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with WAGR Syndrome. She was born Aug. 9, 2002, at Calais Regional Hospital. Abigail is survived by her parents, Sarah Heath and Christopher Francis of Pleasant Point; her older sister, Destiny; her paternal grandparents, Gene Wayne and Bernadette Francis of Pleasant Point; her great-grandfather, Peter Dana of Pleasant Point, and John Stevens of Indian Township; her great-grandparents, Helen and Adam Zilenski of Indian Township; her maternal grandparents, Joyce Clark and Jim Gould of Eastport; her maternal grandfather, Robert Heath of Harrisville, N.H.; her special godparents, Sabattis and Betty Lewey; her uncles, Gene Wayne Jr. and Lee Ann Francis of Indian Island, Shawn and Crystal Socoby of Old Town, John Clark of Berlin, N.H., Stewart Clark of Concord, N.H., and Chris Heath of Troy, N.H.; her aunt, Molly Socoby and Adam Stevens of Indian Township; and several aunts, great-aunts, uncles, and cousins, in both the New Hampshire, Eastport and the Pleasant Point area. The family wishes to extend the sincerest thanks to Dr. Popli, Dr. Akbar and staff of Calais Regional Hospital, Dr. Wood, Dr. Payne and Dr. Lever of Eastern Maine Medical Center, and a very special thanks to the Life Flight of Maine crew, and a special prayer group of Indian Island and Old Town who gave Abigail her special name, Shining Star. Abigail has blessed us with her strength and courage and she has graced us with her unconditional love. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at St. Ann’s Church with the Rev. Gaffey Celebrant. Interment will be announced at time of the service.
