WESTMANLAND – Allen W. Kelley, 82, died Dec. 5, 2006, at a Venice, Fla., hospital. He was born Dec. 27, 1923, in Presque Isle, the son of Allen L. and Evelyn (Munson) Kelley Ashby. Allen graduated from Presque Isle High School and went to work for the “AVR” Railroad before entering the service in 1943. He retired as a major in the U.S. Air Force. Returning to Presque Isle, he entered the accounting business with Lloyd Ingraham, before going to work as farm manager for Frank Hussey in Presque Isle. He farmed independently starting in 1957 and also worked at Fox Trailer Sales and the Extension Service before retiring from McCain Foods, Inc. in 1987. Allen married Dorothy Ann Parsons in 1945 in Great Bend, Kansas. They had been married for 58 years when she died in 2003. Allen is survived by his three sons, Ethan and Elsie Kelley of Detroit, Lance Kelley of Portland, and Mark and Ann Kelley of Lakeland, Fla. He had seven grandchildren, Eric and Trish Kelley of Bangor, Evan and Heather Kelley of St. Albans, Jed Kelley and Zebulon Kelley of Presque Isle, Erin Kelley, Lindsey Kelley and Byron Kelley of Lakeland, Fla. He had three great-grand-children, Olivia and William Kelley of Bangor and Aiden Kelley of St. Albans. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Emery Skillin; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Leavitt. Allen was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Dottie; as well as his brother, Darrol Kelley; and sister, Dorothy Skillin. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Grant Memorial Methodist Church with the Rev. David Williams officiating. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery.
