WHITNEYVILLE – Clifford E. Pennell, 66, passed away Dec. 6, 2006, after a courageous bat-tle with pancre-atic cancer. Born March 23, 1940, in Whitneyville, he was the eldest son of Austin L. and Blanche (Dowling) Pennell. Cliff was retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1979, after 22 years of service. He worked as a x-ray technician for 15 years at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor, and 19 years at Downeast Community Hospital, Machias. He was an avid outdoorsman. A member of the American Legion of Waterville and Machias, along with the Franklin Veterans’ Club; he loved their friendship and Sunday bingo. He enjoyed being a committeeman of Washington County for the Republicans and was always willing to share his knowledge and skills with anyone young or old. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Constance (Allan) Pennell of Whitneyville; and a wonderful family, Michael and Susan (Pennell) Levin and daughter, Sarah, of Gouldsboro, Mark and Debby (Pennell) Field-Rollins and children, Monica, Joshua, Melissa, Ryan and Rachel Cheyenne, of Augusta, Ga., Austin and Erron Pennell and children, Elijah, Elizabeth, Amber and Rebecca, of Limington, Lee and Tara (Pennell) Shelley and children, Zachary and Alexander, of Hermon; his mother, Blanche Pennell; one brother, Nathan Pennell; three sisters, Betty Reeves of Virginia, Barbara Holmes of Machias and Linda Bilodeau of New Hampshire; and two special boys, Mathew and Ryan Warner of Bangor. He was predeceased by his father, Austin L. Pennell; and brother, Philip Pennell. At his request there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A graveside service with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at Whitneyville Cemetery, Whitneyville. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in his memory to the Whitneyville Congregational Church, care of Pamelia Dowling, 134 South Main St., Whitneyville, ME 04654.
