MACHIAS – Alton C. Berry, 85, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at his residence in Machias. He was born Dec. 10, 1920, in Machiasport, the son of the late Melzer and Elizabeth (Thompson) Berry. Mr. Berry graduated from local schools and was employed at the Milliken Textile Mill for 30 years as a supervisor. He shared 55 years of marriage with the late Pauline (Murphy) Berry, who died in 1999. Family members include his daughter, Janet L. Billings and her husband, Raymond, of Southwest Harbor; two grandchildren, Kimberley Arruda and her husband, Joseph, of Windham and Kevin McCurdy of Machias; and a great-grandson, Nicholas Arruda. Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 6 Cooper St., Machias. Burial will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery, Jacksonville.
