LIMINGTON – Ann C. Distant, 67, of Sokokis Avenue, died Sept. 5, 2005, at home surrounded by family after a brief fight against cancer. Born April 21, 1938, in Plymouth, Mass., she was the only child of Irving “Bud” Clark and Louise Howland Clark. They moved to Orrington in 1951, where she competed in horse shows and won many awards. Graduating from Brewer High School in 1956, and then attained a bachelor of science from the University of Maine in 1960 to teach physical education. Her teaching career began at Gorham High School, Gorham, and she retired from Gray-New Gloucester High School with 25 years of service, lovingly known as “Mrs. D”. Ann was an avid gardener who was known for her excellent pickles. She loved to garden, travel, read, ski and entertain with family and friends. Her optimism, kindness, thoughtfulness and loyalty will be greatly missed. She is survived by her father, Irving Clark and stepmother, Janet Clark of St. Cloud, Fla.; her husband, David E. Distant of Limington, and only child, Karin Distant Sullivan; and grandson, Ryan Distant Sullivan of Gray. Private services will be held.
