SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Anthony LaPlante, 43, a good and generous man died of complications of strokes and diabetes Feb. 23, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Dec. 7, 1961, in Putnam, Conn., the son of Joseph A. and Estelle (Poitras) LaPlante. He grew up in Danielson, Conn., and attended school there. He was a volunteer fireman for 15 years and a member of Capt. Put Engine Company. Before moving to Maine with his daughter in 1995, he was employed by Staples. Even though a stroke in April 2004, left him completely blind, he was still good-natured and accepted his condition. Tony enjoyed going to Seawall, playing cards, having company and socializing with his parish family of Saint Peters Catholic Church in Manset, where he was a parishioner. In addition to his parents, with whom he made his home, he is survived by his daughter, Debra Lynn, whom he loved very much; his sister Theresa Whittier and her husband, William, of Scarborough; his brother, Michael J. LaPlante and his fianc?e, Tammy Grant, of Dayville, Conn.; sister, Suzanne Bouthillier and her husband, Danny of Danielson, Conn.; sister, Elizabeth Tavernier and her husband, Bruce, of Ballouvile, Conn.; nine nieces and nephews, a large extended family and a good friend, Maureen. At his request there will be no calling hours. There will be a memorial Mass at Saint Peters in Manset on Wednesday, March 2, at 10 a.m. Service and burial will be in Danielson, Conn. at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to Southwest Harbor – Tremont Ambulance in Southwest Harbor or The American Diabetes Association.
