WADE – Archie W. Silver 77, died Nov. 26. 2004, at a Caribou hospital follow-ing a long illness. He was born Feb. 27, 1927, in Wade, the son of Clarence and Ruth (Fox) Silver. He was a life long member of the Dunntown Advent Christian Church. Archie attended Washburn High School, then served two years in the U.S. Army during World War II. He later graduated from the Aroostook School of Commerce in Presque Isle. He married his wife of 54 years Wilma Mills in 1950. Archie’s passion in life was farming and everything that went with it including, being a member of the Young Farmers of America, the Agway board of directors and serving as a Committeeman for the Aroostook County Soil Conservation District. Being committed to his community was shown by serving as a selectman, treasurer and tax collector for the town of Wade for many years, a member of the S.A.D. No. 45 School Board and had also been a member of the board of directors for Opportunity Training Center. In addition to his wife, Wilma Silver of Wade, he is survived by his children, Kent Silver and his wife, Becky, of Winterville, Ga., Kim Silver and his wife, Stephanie, of Wade, Melody Brann and her husband, Wendell, of Oakland and Marcy Silver of Wade; grandchildren, Heidi, Tricia and Nicholas Silver, Vicki and James Canales, Amanda and Lara Silver and Kristen, Nicole and Zachary Brann; one great-grandchild, Elijah Canales; sisters, Wilda Martin of East Longmeadow, Mass., Glennis Russell and her husband, Otis, of Walpole, Mass., several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the Dunntown Advent Christian Church with Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the church from noon until the time of the service. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Perham. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial gifts in his memory be made to either the Caribou Veterans Home Activity Center, care of Charlene Burgay, 163 Van Buren Road, Caribou, ME 04736 or to the Work Activity Center, care of Pam Powers, 29 Lombard St., Presque Isle, ME 04769. Arrangements are in the care of the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home in Presque Isle.
