CARIBOU – Bert F. Blanchard, 90, died Oct. 27, 2006, in Caribou. He was born July 29, 1916, at his grandfather’s farm in Wilton, the son of Clifford and Lillian “Della” (Wood) Blanchard. He was a 1934 graduate of Farmington High School, attended the University of Maine – Orono and was a graduate of the Bentley School of Accounting, Boston. During World War II, Mr. Blanchard served in the U.S. Navy as a Navy Seabee. Bert was a member of the Lister Knowlton Post No. 9389 VFW, as well as the Henry B. Pratt Post No. 15 American Legion. Bert was also a member of the Caribou Unitarian Universalist Church. He worked as an accountant for the automobile business in Caribou, in the hotel and real estate business in Cambridge, Mass., and prior to his retirement was employed by the Maine Department of Labor, Augusta. He is survived by two daughters, Nancy Fink and her husband, John, of Canton, Ohio; and Gay Martin of Yuma, Ariz.; one brother, Norman Blanchard and his wife, Mabel, of Winn; and one sister, Beulah Green; and her husband, Don, of Brunswick; a stepdaughter-in-law, Judy Sirois of T15 R15; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 12 great-grand-children, three great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Blanchard was predeceased by his parents; his wife and best friend, Frankie (Parsons) Blanchard in 2001; and a stepson, Rodney Sirois in 2006. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, from the chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, with Mary Lou Brown officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
