BREWER – Berton H. “Poochie” Smith, 70, died Jan. 26, 2007, at his home. He was born July 13, 1936, in Belfast, the son of Charles I. Smith and Velma Smith Clark. He was a soldier for the Salvation Army. Poochie enjoyed roller skating, fishing, camping, yard sales and motorcycles. Surviving are his wife, Linda Smith; three brothers, Burleigh Smith, Gary Smith and Everett Clark; one sister, Gail Clark; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Clark; and two sisters, Verna Littlefield and Donna Lestha. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at the Salvation Army, 65 South Park St., Bangor. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the Salvation Army.
