INDIAN ISLAND – Bertrand A. Cote Jr. passed away unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at his residence on Indian Island. He was born June 26, 1954, in Southington, Conn., the son of Bertrand A. Cote Sr. and Julia Ann (Shay) Cote. Bert was a man of his faith and strongly believed in Jesus. He would have said that “death is the greatest miracle of everlasting life.” Bert was an ordained minister of the United Pentecostal Church International. He was a former policeman, fireman and dispatcher for Penobscot Nation on Indian Island. Bert established and was the Pastor for the Indian Island Faith Tabernacle for 11 years. He enjoyed the Red Sox and Patriots and was excited that he had witnessed both teams and their fame in obtaining their championships. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his wife, Clara, of 29 years; son, Bertrand A. Cote III of Bangor; daughter, Joanna Cote of Indian Island; mother, Julia Ann (Shay) Cote of Indian Island; sister, Belinda Cote of Indian Island; brother, Matthew Cote of Middletown, Conn.; brother, Raymond Cote of Indian Island; brother Geoffrey Cote of Skiatook, Okla.; grandson, Barret Michael Cote; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Bertrand A. Cote Sr. Friends may call 1-8 p.m. Thursday at the Indian Island Faith Tabernacle. A Celebration of Everlasting Life will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday at the Indian Island Community Center with the Rev. Charles Hurst officiating. Family and friends are invited back to the Indian Island Faith Tabernacle Annex for a luncheon and continued fellowship immediately following the service.
