HARRINGTON – Beryl “Nana” M. Mitchell, 84, went to sleep in the arms of her Savior March 1, 2006, at Sunrise Health Care Facility, Jonesport. God’s finger touched her and she slept. She was born April 17, 1921, in Addison, the daughter of the late Howard and Viola Seavey. Beryl was a lifelong member of the Down East Christian Church. She will be remembered for her love of knitting and crocheting and sharing her handmade gifts with friends and family. Beryl was an excellent cook, her fudge and pies were always a hit at family functions. She is survived by her daughter, Shalba Farren and husband, Philip, of Addison; son-in-law, Larry Beal; sister, Barbara Parker, both of Cherryfield; sister-in-law, Faustina Flaherty; grandchildren, Sid Farren and wife, Dianne, Everett Farren and fiance, Paula Foote, Darlene Aarsand and husband, Carl, Kevin Beal, Pam Libby and husband, Jeff, and Phillip Farren II and wife, Amy Beth; and several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Beryl was predeceased by her husband, Sidney; a daughter, Yvonne Beal; brothers, Erwin, Avery and Charles; and sisters, Ethel and Winnie. The family of Beryl would like to thank the staff at Sunrise Health Care Facility for the outstanding care she received while there. Honoring Beryl’s request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. Due to the cold weather, a committal service, officiated by the Rev. Clive Meidahl, will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 6 Cooper St., Machias, which family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Down East Christian Church, P.O. Box 189, Harrington, ME 04643 or to the Gift of Sight Foundation, 396 Ridge Rd., Addison, ME 04606.
