GUILFORD – Bettylee A. Cartwright passed away Aug. 4, 2007, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 9, 1922, in Chicago, the daughter of Sadrick E. and Josephine H. Abramson. She attended schools in Detroit and graduated from High-land Park High School. She graduated from Albion College, Albion, Mich., in 1943, where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She was married to Joseph W. Cartwright in 1945, and lived in Mayville, Mich., until moving to Guilford in 1950, where they raised their family. Betty was a devoted and loving wife and mother, who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph W. Cartwright. She is survived by her five children and 10 grandchildren, Joseph E. Cartwright and wife, Dorle, of Dover-Foxcroft and their children, Lana of Los Angeles and Tyson of Bangor, Ellen L. and husband, Robert Annis, of Fairfax, Va., and their daughter, Megan of Williston, Vt., Martha A. and husband, Robert Sanders and their daughter, Jennifer of Charlotte, Vt., John W. Cartwright and wife, Stephanie, and their children, Grace, Elizabeth, William and Andrew of Guilford and James F. Cartwight of Guilford and his children, Nathan of Portsmouth, R.I., and Leigh of Burlington, Vt. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, where funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. Private interment will be in the family lot at Rural Grove Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft.
