FAIRFIELD – Bruce A. L. Dearborn, 66, of Waterville died unexpectedly June 16, 2006. He was born in Waterville, a son of Howard and Helena (Parks) Dearborn. A lifelong resident of Waterville, Bruce attended Coburn Institute and later graduated from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He returned to Waterville in 1964, to become the first hospital-based pharmacist at Thayer Hospital, now referred to as MaineGeneral. He retired in 2005, after working there for 39 years. He was a member of the Holy Spirit, in his younger years attending Sacred Heart and more recently Notre Dame Catholic Church. One of Bruce’s greatest sources of pride and accomplishment is his more than three decades of affiliation with the AA community. He loved the outdoors; the solace of the woods and the serenity that he found in nature. As a young child, he spent time hunting and fishing with his father and later passed on those skills to his children. He was a deeply spiritual man who enjoyed good food, music, literature and in later years explored his creative side by writing poetry. Bruce was innovative in his basement workshop where he loved to tinker and find new uses for duct tape. He was skilled at repairs but with little emphasis to aesthetics. He spoke often of the joy he received spending time with his large family. Bruce is survived by seven children, Jeff Dearborn and his wife, Shelley, of West Baldwin, Scott Dearborn and his wife, Carol, of Portland, David Dear-born and his fianc?e, Jennifer Goss, of Portland, Barbara Sawyer and her husband, Chris, of Portland, Paul Dearborn and his wife, Grace, of San Rafael, Calif., James Dearborn of Bangorand Seth Dearborn of New York; his sister, Sally Luther of Waterville; a niece and three nephews, Lori, Greg, Chris and Marc; 16 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Burial will be held at St. Francis Cemetery after the service.
