SPENCER, Mass., and DIXMONT – Carl I Dow, 85, died Feb. 16, 2004, at a Worcester Mass., health-care facility following a long illness. He was born April 24, 1918, in Mt. Chase, the son of George A. and Marion (Lynds) Dow. Carl was educated in Newport schools. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was married to Barbara Bates who died Aug. 6, 2003. For more than 30 years, Carl was employed as a custodian at Quaboag Regional High School in Warren, Mass. He was a member of the Spencer Mass., American Legion. He is survived by his son and his wife, Elliott and Dorothy Dow of Cambridge; a stepdaughter, Irene Loguercio of Pleasantville, N.Y.; one brother, Lawrence Dow of Buxton; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sons, George and Roy; also seven brothers and three sisters, Angus, Hilton, Douglas, Milford, Lewis, Roger, Roscoe, Lena, Inez and Ella. Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at the Brown Funeral Home, 34 High St., Newport, where funeral services will be conducted immediately following the visitation at 11 a.m., with Pastor Lois E.
