ORRINGTON – Carole Linda “Calie” Eacmen, 68, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, with her daughters at her bedside at her home. She was born Aug. 16, 1939, in Bangor, the daughter of Edward and Carolyn Braley. Calie grew up surrounded by her fun loving and rambunctious eight brothers and sisters. She married the love of her life, Joseph Anthony Eacmen in 1957 and spent the next 20 years traveling the world as a U.S. Air Force wife and mother of four daughters. She was an excellent mother and a beloved “nana” of seven grandchildren. She made sure that every member of her family felt loved and valued. Calie was very competitive and was truly a master of cribbage, scrabble and pitch. She loved crossword puzzles, a good book and most of all, she treasured time spent with her loving family. She was a terrific dancer and was beauty in motion when partnered with her beloved husband, Joe. She will be missed and her spirit lives on in her children and grandchildren. Carole was a member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed the beaches of Hawaii, times spent at Lake Winnepasuakee and truly loved her extended visits with her daughter in Alaska. Surviving are her loving daughters and their families, Debora Eacmen-Fiske and her husband, Bruce, and their children, Li Mei and Li Na, of Anchorage, Alaska, Karen Rose and her daughter, Kori, Susan Eacmen-Worcester her husband, David, and her sons, Brandon Porter and Michael Worcester, Mary McCloskey, her husband, James, and their children, Casey and Joseph, all of Maine; two brothers, Dean Braley and his wife, Liz, of New Hampshire, and James Braley and his wife, Becca, of Baileyville; two sisters, Rose Danforth and her husband, Douglas, and Bette Jamieson, all of Brewer; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband and soulmate in 2005, and her family believes they are rejoined and are at peace. She was also predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Jane Tedesco and Brenda Gray; and two brothers, Timothy and Leslie Braley. Calie’s family extends their thanks and appreciation to Lisa, R.N., and Erin, L.C.S.W., of Hospice of Eastern Maine for their support, kindness and professionalism during Calie’s battle with terminal cancer. A special thanks is also extended to Frank and Dan Larkin of Americoast for their kindness and willingness to deliver equipment at a moment’s notice. Lisa, Erin, Frank and Dan are very special people and Calie felt like they became a part of her family.
