LINCOLN – Carroll J. Monroe, 69, beloved husband of Bernice (King) Monroe, passed away Nov. 29, 2003, at a Lincoln hospital after a long illness. He was born Aug. 17, 1934, in North Conway, N.H., the son of Lloyd and Love (Miester) Monroe, but moved to Maine at an early age. Carroll worked for Bangor Hydro for 36 years. He loved fishing and hunting and belonged to the Lincoln Fish and Game Club. In addition to his beloved wife of 46 years, Bernice, he leaves two sons, Malcolm and Brian; and a daughter and special son-in-law, Shari and Scott Sawyer; special nieces, Rhonda Monroe, Brenda Burgess and her husband, Jeff, Dale-Ann and Darla; two very special great-nieces, Justina and Shelby; nephew, Stuart; brothers, Kenneth, Bob and his wife, Helen, Donald, and Herbert and his wife, Evelyn; and good friends, Ronnie and Clara Gray. He was predeceased by a special friend and fishing buddy, Carroll Jones. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, and 12 noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Young officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
