LUBEC – Charles A. Holmes Sr., 93, passed away Dec. 14, 2006, at his son’s home in Tewksbury, Mass. He was born Dec. 13, 1913, in Lubec, the son of Robert and Maude (Ingersoll) Holmes. Growing up in Lubec he learned a great work ethic, working as a carpenter and for a time, living in Camden and working in the shipyards. Even though he had resided in Tewksbury, Mass., for the past few years, he always considered Lubec his home. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Florence (Drenkhahn) Holmes; a son, Charles Holmes Jr.; two grandchildren, Charles III and Vivianne; a stepgranddaughter, Cheri; two great-grand-children, Tyler and Chali; and a niece, Janice. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Laura. Visiting hours will be held 7-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at the Three Angels Seventh Day Adventist Church, Route 1, Whiting, where funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, with Pastor Fleisch officiating. Burial will be immediately after at Green-lawn Cemetery, Lubec. Arrangements are in care of McClure Family Funeral Services, Lubec.
