PRESQUE ISLE – Charles Edwin Everett, 93, died Monday morning, Jan. 23, 2006, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility. He was born Nov. 29, 1912, in Presque Isle, the youngest son of Howard B. and Marcia Hanson Everett. He graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1930, from Aroostook State Normal School in 1932 and was also a graduate of the Boston School of anatomy and embalming. Mr. Everett lived most of his life in Presque Isle, where he was employed for many years as the manager of the parts department, at Maine Potato Growers. He began his career at the International Harvester Company in Presque Isle. During the 1940’s, he owned a country store at State Road Siding and then returned to the farm machinery business, first at the Mars Hill Implement Company and then at MPG. For a time, he also was a New England district representative for the Massey-Ferguson Company. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Presque Isle Country Club and was a former member of the Abnaki Club, the Presque Isle Kiwanis Club and a past master of the Masonic Lodge in Mars Hill. He loved music and belonged to the Presque Isle chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America. For many years he sang bass as a member of The Roadrunners, a barbershop quartet that sang throughout Maine and New Brunswick. Mr. Everett is survived by his son, Daniel C. Everett and his wife, Laurie, of Arlington, Mass.; two granddaughters, Holly L. Everett and Alison C. Everett of Arlington, Mass.; three grandsons, Jon J. Everett of Bangor, Andrew C. Everett and his wife, Rika, of Santa Monica, Calif., Adam D. Everett of Burbank, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, James E. Chandler and his wife, Nancy, of Presque Isle. In addition to his beloved wife of 42 years, Hilda Aucoin Everett, he was predeceased by his brother, T. Earle Everett; and six sisters, Mae Chandler, Belle Hone, Florence Goodwin, Clara Conklin, Mildred Guiggey and Alice Widdowson. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle.
