BAILEYVILLE – Charles J. Bass, 65, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at a Calais nursing home. Charles was born May 7, 1941, in Baileyville, son of Frederick and Julie (Babineau) Bass. He married Gertrude Mullins June 27, 1963. Charles was employed by Goding & Sons Concrete, as a truck driver for more than 20 years. He was a communicant of St. James the Greater R.C. Church, Baileyville and a member of the Princeton Rod & Gun Club. Charles was predeceased by his father; and a sister, Rose Marie Bass. Surviving are his wife of more than 43 years, Gertrude Bass; his mother, Julie Bass of Lewiston; a daughter, Annette Bass of Baileyville; two sisters, Catherine Frost and Florine McAvoy; two brothers, Norman and Vincent Bass; a special granddaughter, Marisa McCray; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday and noon-1 p.m. Tuesday at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday with Fr. Frank Morin officiating.
