BELFAST – Charlotte Louise (Smearer) Siemann, 90, of Belfast, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family Jan. 3, 2006, at the Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast. She was born May 12, 1915, in North Conway, N.H., the daughter of William James Smearer Sr. and Frances Jane Harrison Smearer. She has lived on the Marsh Road and been a resident of Belfast since 1935, and worked for the Blue and White Laundry for more than 20 years as manager when the business existed years ago in Belfast. She also was employed by several local residents for home healthcare and cleaning services until her retirement in the early 70’s. She was predeceased by her mother and father, William James Smearer Sr. and Frances Jane Harrison Smearer; along with her brothers and sisters, William Smearer Jr., George A. Smearer, Viola Ward, George E. Smearer, Philip G. Smearer, Margaret H. Dorschuck, Malcoln E. Smearer, Stanley M. Smearer, Rose E. MacGrath; and her twin, Charles E. Smearer. She is also predeceased by her husband, Frederick W. Siemann Sr.; her son, George H. Siemann; her grandsons, Richard Cameron Tash Jr. and Jackson Christopher Stone. Her granddaughter, Julie Lynn Robertson also predeceases her. Surviving are her sons and daughters, Robert Siemann and his wife, Katherine, of Arizona, Frederick Siemann Jr. and his wife, Trudee, of Hawaii, Frances Tash and her husband, Richard, of New Hampshire, Joan H. Siemann of Lewiston, Barbara Robertson and her husband, Daniel, of Stockton Springs, William Siemann of Belfast, Lillian Stone of Florida, Martha Albert of Belfast, Deborah Pomerleau of Auburn, 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Special thanks go out to all the girls of the Waldo County General Hospital second floor for taking such good care of our mother during this difficult time, to Dr. Thomas Maycock and her special nurse practitioner, Amy Fradel for all her gentle and loving care over the years. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave, Belfast. Interment will be in the spring.
