WATERVILLE – Chester E. Savoy, 86, of 26 Louise Ave., Waterville, pas-sed away July 3, 2005, at Togus Veterans Hospital in Augusta, after a year long battle with cancer. Chester was born July 19,1919, in Littleton, to George and Lillian Savoy. He served his country during World War II, in General Patton’s 5th Army and was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded a “silver star” for bravery. Being an avid sportsman, he loved fishing and hunting at his camp at “the forks”. He greatly enjoyed driving to Houlton to visit his family there. One of his greatest pleasures was dining at “Grammy’s Country Inn” in Linneus. Chester was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Mona Savoy; a dear friend, “Dot”; and four siblings, Lewis, Marian, Donald and Morris Savoy. He is survived by one sister, Doris and husband, Richard Valentino, of Atlanta, Ga.; three nephews and their wives, Don and Gwen Savoy, Paul and Bonnie Savoy, of Houlton, Terry and Karen Savoy of Yardley, Pa.; and a dear sister-in-law, Edna Savoy, of Houlton; also two dear friends and fishing buddies, Carol Ann and Larry Rines of Wiscasset; and many dear friends in the Waterville area. It was Chesters wish that no service be held. Those who wish may make a donation in his memory to your local animal shelter. <>
