For Aunt Christine on her 90th Birthday Emojean Furrow She was young and pretty when she became his bride And as they said their “I do’s” Standing side by side They made a handsome couple Now, they became husband and wife Promising to obey A commitment the rest of their life He took to the homestead A farmer’s wife she became She knew all about hardships The joys and the pain And, I bet if you should ask her About her memories good or bad About some of the events That made her happy or sad She would gladly tell you And she would have a ball Of telling you her memories Those springs and falls During planting and harvesting Hired help to feed She could cook mouth-watering meals A very good cook indeed Sitting on a three legged stool The “kickers” on a cow Filling up the milk pail She could show you how She had her favorite overalls And a plaid flannel shirt This was her attire When she went to fields to work She raised her family Three girls and a boy And , they were taught how to work Some days they didn’t enjoy What kept them all together Twas their faith up above They knelt in our little church To Jesus expressing their love Today is her birthday Celebrating NINETY YEARS And we’re so happy for her Although there will be some tears And may she take a moment Dream of long ago May her memories make her smile As she does onward go Aunt Christine we love you What can we give you for a gift Just some old time memories To give your heart a lift So do enjoy your day And we’ll leave our thoughts with you Happy Happy Birthday and get well, our best to you.
