ASHLAND – Christine M. Lachance, 36, died Feb. 14, 2004, at a Presque Isle nursing home after a long illness. She was born Oct. 27, 1967, in St. Georges, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Gilles and Helyette (Daigle) Lachance. She was afflicted with severe mental retardation and uncontrollable seizure disorders from birth, but her inner drive and will to live did not deter Chrissy from living a full and loving life. She brought much joy to those who knew her, especially her parents, brothers, and extended family. The love she received in return allowed her to live nearly double the number of years expected for her condition. Chrissy was a member of St. Mark’s parish community of Ashland. In addition to her parents of Ashland, she is survived by her two brothers, Daniel Lachance of Danbury, Conn., Richard Lachance and his wife, Katy, also of Danbury; her maternal grandmother, Marguerite (Parent) Daigle Lariviere and her husband, Leo Lariviere, of St. Georges, Quebec; her adoptive maternal grandparents, Alexandre and Maria (Parent) Morin, also of St. Georges; her infant nephew, Jack Alexander Lachance of Danbury, Conn. Christine was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Henri and Adrienne (Lacasse) Lachance; her maternal grandfather, Eugene Daigle; and by two cousins, Kenny Lachance and Shane Daigle. Relatives and friends may call 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the St. Mark Catholic Church, Ashland. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Scott Mower, pastor, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in her memory to the Opportunity Training Center for the Pam Powers Adult Program, in care of Steve Richards, 25 Lombard St., Presque Isle, 04769. A service of Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., Ashland.
