GRAND ISLE – Clemence “Kay” Lavoie, 82, passed away unexpectedly May 29, 2007, surrounded by loved ones who were there to care for her, at a Bangor hospital. Clemence was born April 3, 1925, in Lille, the daughter of Thaddee and Annie (Bouchard) Lausier. She was a devout Catholic and a member of the daughters of Isabella. As a loving mother and Memere, she enjoyed knitting pichooze, hand towels and dishcloths as well as baking and making fudge. Clemence also appreciated and loved flowers. Clemence is survived by her husband of 62 years, Leo Paul Lavoie of Grand Isle; two sons, Peter Lavoie of Jinan, China, and Joel Lavoie of St. David; two daughters, Barbara Carroll of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Sandra Lavoie of Grand Isle; five brothers, Joseph, Patrick, George, Raymond, and James Lausier; three sisters, Edmay Daigle, Laurette Doucette, and Constance Cyr, fraternal twin; eight grandchildren, Brian Sweet of Las Vegas, Kevin Sweet of United Arab Emirates, Nathan Sweet of Albuquerque, N.M., Jon Paul and Nikki Lavoie, both of Texas, Corey Lavoie of Bangor, Sharon Lavoie of Presque Isle, and Stacy Lavoie of Madawaska; and seven great-grandchildren. Clemence will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Jeanne Deschaines and Bertha St. Jean; and by one brother, Maurice Lausier. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at St. Gerard Church, Grand Isle, with Fr. James Albert officiating. Friends and relatives may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 Monday until time of services at Daigle Funeral Home. Interment will be at St. Gerard Cemetery.
