PRESQUE ISLE – Clyde E.J. Clukey, 84, died Nov. 26, 2003, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility. He was born March 8, 1919, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Ralph and Maude (Clukey) Clukey. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Presque Isle. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in the Caribbean. Mr. Clukey was parts manager at Carrolls Auto Sales from 1946 to 1981. In 1984, he came out of retirement to help start his son’s business, Clukey’s Auto Parts, retiring again in 2002. He was a member of the Hayward Frazier Post No. 2599 VFW, Bishop Daniel J. Feeney Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, and was a volunteer fireman for more than 20 years. Mr. Clukey was an avid Red Sox Fan, enjoyed his camp at St. Froid Lake, where he loved to hunt and fish for more than 35 years. In his later years he enjoyed vacationing at St. Martens in the Caribbean. Surviving him are two sons, Richard S. Clukey, and Thomas J. Clukey and his fianc‚e, Gail Trask, all of Presque Isle; two daughters, Barbara A. Plisga and her husband, Stanley, of Eddington, Cynthia Embelton and her husband, Hubert, of Mapleton; two grandchildren, Matthew and Kristen Packard; three step-grandchildren, Christopher, Jared and Kyle; and a brother, Philip Clukey of Abbott. He was predeceased by his wife, Bertha (Ferland) Clukey in 1997; eight brothers and sisters, Clarence, Andrew, Theresa, Lillian, Marion, Beatrice, Dorothy and Eleanor. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Alfred Irving celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary’s North Main Street Catholic Cemetery, Presque Isle. Those who wish may donate in his memory to St. Mary’s Social Action, P.O.
