VERONA ISLAND – David A. Harvey, 68, died April 24, 2005, at a Bangor health care facility after a long illness. He was born Jan. 24, 1937, in Bucksport, the oldest son of Albert O. and Vera (Bell) Harvey. He attended grade school on Verona Island and graduated from Bucksport High School in 1955. He served four years in the U.S. Navy. David worked at International Paper Company, Bucksport (also St. Regis and Champion) for 39 years prior to his illness. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bonnie (Bell) Harvey of Verona Island; three daughters, Holly Pelletier and husband, Randy, of Verona Island, Heather Hassapelis and husband, Jay, of Stockton Springs, Hayley Smith and husband, James Smith Jr., of Bucksport; three sons, Thomas Harvey of Vinalhaven, Dane Harvey and wife, Jessica, of Bucksport, Brendan Harvey and wife, Tiffany, of Bucksport; his grandchildren, are Justin, Katie, Shane, and Paige Pelletier, Craig and Jason Harvey, Kahli and Max Harvey, David and Nicolas Maguire, Elizabeth and Logan Smith, and Gabrielle and Maddison Harvey; one great-grandson, Hunter Pelletier. He leaves a brother, Lionel Harvey and wife, Sandra, of Verona Island; two nieces, Susan Christinziano and husband, Vincent, of Wells, and Jennifer Gibbons and husband, Ryerson Schwark, of West Linn, Ore.; two nephews, Brian Bell and wife, Jody, of New York, N.Y., and Nathan Bell of Washington, D.C. He is survived by his in-laws, Grenville and Nora Bell of Bucksport; sister-in-law, Ruth Bell of Bucksport; Pastor Thomas Bell and wife, Carol Lee, of Blodgett Mills, N.Y. David was predeceased by his parents; a granddaughter, Tasha Grace Maguire; nephew, L. Douglas Harvey. At David’s request there will not be visitation and funeral service will be private.
