ORRINGTON – Harry Martin Leach Jr., 78, died April 23, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 11, 1926, in Blue Hill, the son of Doris (Turner) and Harry M. Leach Sr. He attended Ricker College, was a veteran of World War II, and served in the U.S. Air National Guard as a flight line mechanic at Dow Air Force Base, Bangor, retiring after 32 years. He was the owner of Whispering Pines Campground for nine years, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and volunteered at EMMC for several years. He enjoyed woodworking, bird watching, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harry is survived by his wife, Phyllis Leach of Orrington; three children, Joseph Leach and wife, Linda, of Orland, Cindy Smith and husband, Gregory, of Orrington, Kathryn Smith of Orrington; stepdaughter, Sandra Stolt of Arlington, Va.; grandchildren, Eric Leach, Daniel Leach, Justin Smith, Rebecca Smith, Corey Smith, Andrew Smith; stepgrandson, David Stolt; great-grandchildren, Daerik Leach, Vlad Leach; great-stepgrandchildren, Chelsea Cookson, Cole Cookson, Jordan Stolt, Anna Stolt, Robert Stolt; sister, Doris Adams; brother, Norris Leach; special niece, Bobbi Chase; many friends; several nieces and nephews. Harry was predeceased by his first wife, Marlene (Harp) Leach; and brother, Wallace Leach. Visitation for family and friends will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, with Pastor Adam Soderberg officiating. Interment will be in the Maine Veteran’s Cemetery, Augusta. Donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
