HOULTON – David McCarthy, 60, died July 11, 2006, at his residence. He was born June 4, 1946, at Houlton, the son of the late John P. and Lois (Drake) McCarthy. Davis was employed at Smith & Wesson for more than 30 years. He enjoyed working in the barn with Buffy and taking care of the horses. For the past several years, David worked part-time at the Houlton Civic Center sharpening skates, running the zamboni and just loved being around all of the kids. David is survived by his mother, Lois (Drake) Gentle; his daughter, Kelli McCarthy; his partner, Buffy Scott; two grandchildren, Micah McCarthy and Abigail Lowrey; his brother, Larry McCarthy and his wife, Trish, all of Houlton; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father; and his wife, Carol McCarthy. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dunn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Tuttle officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
