MAPLETON – Davis C. Tardie, 77, went to be with his Lord, Aug. 12, 2006, at the Maine Veter-ans’ Home, Caribou. He was born Feb. 19, 1929, in Eagle Lake, the son of Frank and Hermina (Gagnon) Tardie. He lived in Winterville during his younger years until he started working at the A&P Tea Co., which he worked at for 26 years. He worked in Presque Isle, Fort Kent, Van Buren, Limestone and Caribou, working as manager in Fort Kent and Limestone. When the A&P stores closed, he went to work for Star City IGA for 20 years. Davis served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a radar equipment foreman and was discharged as a technical sergeant He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marilyn Jean (Buchanan) Tardie of Mapleton; two sons, Steven and his fiance, Laurie McIntyre, of Presque Isle and Andrew and his wife, Roxanne, of Ashland; a daughter, Susan Sjoberg and her husband, Kevin, of Presque Isle ; six grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye, Iva Tardie of Long Island, N.Y., Emily, Jacob, Faith Sjoberg, all of Presque Isle, Fallyn and Oliva Tardie of Ashland; a brother, Edmund Tardie and his wife, Marion, of Crouse-ville; two sisters, Jeanette Moore and her husband, Richard, of Whitefield, R.I. and Mabel Hagerman of Scarborough; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Cecile Scott; and two brothers, Jimmy and Herman Tardie. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle with the Rev. Raymond Morency celebrant. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. Those who wish may donate in memory of Davis to the Maine Veterans’ Home, 163 Van Buren Rd., Caribou, ME 04736.
