CARIBOU – Delcia Burby, 85, died March 14, 2005, at a Caribou health care facility, following a long illness. She was born Jan. 23, 1920, at Caribou, the daughter of Vital and Laura (Belanger) Burby Sr. She attended Caribou schools, graduating from Caribou High School. She worked for Sears before serving in the U.S. Navy for 111/2 years. She then graduated from college and lived in the Boston area for 53 years, before returning to Aroostook County in 1994. She is survived by one brother, Leo Burby of Caribou; and sister, Flora Denis (Burby) Brissette of Caribou; several nieces, nephews and great- nieces and great-nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2005, from the chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home, with the Fr. David Raymond, officiating. Spring interment will take place in the Old Holy Rosary Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Delcia may do so through the Maine Veterans Home memorial fund. Envelopes may be obtained through the funeral home.
