MILLINOCKET – Donald “Ducky” Dickinson, 64, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2006, at a Millinocket healthcare facility. He was born Sept. 15, 1941, in Millinocket, the son of Elwood and Ellen (Mackin) Dickinson. Don graduated from Stearns High School and entered into the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. After coming back to Millinocket, he worked for Great Northern Paper Company for 42 years, retiring in 1999. He was a past commander of American Legion, Post No. 80 for four years and he was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 1521 in Millinocket. Ducky was an avid hunter and fly fisherman. He loved to fly fish at Snesoudanuhunk Lake. He really enjoyed his rides on the Golden Road with his partner in crime, Daley “Dan.” He also loved camping at the Big Eddy. Don is survived by his mother, Ellen Dickinson of Millinocket; his sister, Carol Whalen of Millinocket; his fishing buddy and wife, Cecile Dickinson of Millinocket; their children, Charles Dickinson of Millinocket, Carrie and her husband, Daniel Cosman, of Prince George, Va., Lawrence and his wife, Corrine York, of Bradford, Edmund York of Bangor, Steven York of Bangor, Bernadette Tabby York of Millinocket; also survived by their grandchildren, Maria Cosman and Daniel Cosman Jr. of Prince George, Va., Ashley Dickinson of Bangor, Keith, Nicole, and Lawrence York of Bangor, Dillon York of Bangor, Joshua and Mackenzie Young of Bangor; his pride and joy, Howard Stanhope III of Millinocket; nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by the mother of his children, Judi D’Angelo Bentson of Millinocket; father-in-law, Clem D’Angelo; brother-in-law, Gig D’Angelo of Millinocket.
